Good Practice Hub is an online micro-learning platform designed specifically for human services organisations across Australia and New Zealand. We deliver short, focused practice quizzes that help workers build confidence in the policies, standards, and legislation that govern their work.

Our quizzes are designed for workers in disability support, aged care, community services, child protection, and related human services sectors — including governance board members, administrators, client-facing staff, and team leaders.

The Policy Place is the parent brand behind Good Practice Hub. We help human services organisations stay across their compliance obligations through practical, accessible learning tools.

Good Practice Hub uses an adaptive learning engine. Rather than asking every question in order, our system tracks which concepts you’ve understood and focuses your practice session on areas where you need more support. If you answer a concept correctly first time, you move on. If you get it wrong, the system presents a related question on that same concept — giving you a second chance to learn before continuing. This means every session is personalised to your current knowledge.

Each quiz is built around concept groups — clusters of questions that test the same underlying knowledge. The engine serves one question per concept to confident learners, and additional questions from concepts you found challenging. You'll always cover every key concept, but the path through the quiz adapts to you.

You’ll see a short educational explanation that covers the key learning point, then the system will present another question on the same concept. This “learn in the moment” approach is based on spaced retrieval practice — one of the most effective methods for building durable knowledge.

You earn full marks for concepts answered correctly on the first attempt, and half marks for concepts you got right on a retry. This rewards existing knowledge while still giving credit for learning during the session.

Absolutely — and we encourage it. Practice quizzes are designed to be repeated. Because the adaptive engine varies which questions you see, each session reinforces your learning differently.

It depends on your access tier:

• Free (StartSmart) users: You get access to the base induction quizzes (Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, Privacy, and Abuse Prevention) which are available to everyone, plus additional free quizzes matched to your staff role.
• Pro users (individual or via your organisation): You get access to the entire quiz library — every published quiz across all categories, regardless of your role. Role tagging still helps surface the most relevant quizzes in your “For Your Role” dashboard section, but nothing is locked from you.

In short: roles help us recommend the most relevant content, but they never lock Pro users out of anything.

When you set up your profile, you choose one of four roles that reflects your position:

• Governance — Board members, trustees, and governance volunteers
• Administration — Office, finance, and operational support staff
• Client Services — Frontline workers delivering services to clients
• Manager / Team Leader — People in supervisory or leadership roles

Your role helps us tailor your experience — particularly on the free tier, where your StartSmart induction kit includes quizzes specific to your responsibilities. You can change your role at any time from your profile settings.

Your PracticeLab dashboard organises quizzes by intent, not just category:

• Pick Up Where You Left Off — quizzes you’ve started but haven’t completed
• For Your Role — quizzes tagged as particularly relevant to your staff role
• Explore the Library — browse the full collection by category

The most relevant quizzes surface at the top of your dashboard automatically — no searching required.

We use AI (Claude by Anthropic) as a drafting tool to generate initial question sets. Every question is then reviewed, edited, and approved by our team before publication. AI helps us scale content creation; human expertise ensures accuracy and relevance.

No. The adaptive engine that selects your next question is a straightforward rules-based algorithm — not an AI model. It follows simple logic: if you know a concept, move on; if not, practise it again. Your data is never sent to any AI service.

Our content references current Australian and New Zealand legislation, standards, and sector-specific frameworks. Our team reviews all content for accuracy, and quizzes are updated when legislation or standards change.

Every user gets access to our StartSmart induction kit — a set of foundational quizzes covering Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, Privacy, and Abuse Prevention, plus role-specific quizzes matched to your staff role. It's designed as a practical induction resource for new workers.

Pro gives you access to the full quiz library (22+ quizzes and growing), detailed practice insights on your dashboard, and your ProofKit evidence report — a downloadable PDF that documents your learning for professional development or audit purposes.

Organisations pay $25 + GST per person per year. Org admins can add unlimited staff for free and then assign Pro seats to the team members who need full access. Staff own their own accounts and progress — if they move to another organisation, their learning travels with them.

You do. Your account and progress belong to you. Organisation membership is a layer on top — your employer can see your completion status, but you keep your learning history if you leave. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

No. Organisations can see which quizzes you've completed and your overall scores, but not your individual question responses.
